Lower the Video Quality
Like downloading YouTube videos, the higher video quality is, the more data you’ll be used . That is to say, YouTube data usage depends on the video quality you choose. As long as you choose lower resolution videos, YouTube won’t use as much as higher resolution videos.
So it’s a good idea to lower the video quality when you watch YouTube videos. Here’s how:
Step 1. Launch the YouTube app and go to your homepage.
Step 2. Find the video you want to change its video quality.
Step 3. Click on the three dots icon in the top right of the screen.
Step 4. Then it shows you different video quality options, choose 480p or 360p as needed and it will change the video quality to 480p or 360p.
Download YouTube Videos
The second tip is downloading YouTube videos and watch them offline. You can save YouTube videos in advance when you use Wi-Fi. Or you can download YouTube videos in lower video quality.
Follow the steps to download videos from YouTube.
Step 1. Launch the browser app to access YouTube and copy the URL of the video you want to download.

Step 1. Launch the YouTube app and tap on your profile picture in the top-right corner of the screen.
Step 2. Choose the option Settings and click on Limit mobile data usage (Only stream HD video on Wi-Fi) to turn it on.
Step 3. Then HD videos won’t be played when you use mobile data.
Autoplay is switched on by default. It can also consume a lot of your mobile data. Therefore, you’d better disable the Autoplay feature on YouTube.
Step 1. Play the video you like after signing in to your YouTube account.
Step 2. Go to the Up Next section on the video page.
Step 3. Click on the blue button Autoplay and turn it off.
